Recently we had the honour of assisting a family say farewell to a young man from Phillip Island taken far too early. This unique funeral, held on the beach at Ventnor, was symbolic of the young man’s love of the beach, love of life, love of family and friends.
The beachside service commenced with friends and family writing messages on the coffin, followed by many heartfelt stories and recollections. When the service concluded the Pallbearers, led by Carol the owner of Families First Funerals, carried the coffin through the shallows on Ventnor beach.
The wake was held at the Shearing Shed, a rustic restaurant and function centre located on the outskirts of Cowes. Originally a working sheep farm, this facility has been painstakingly renovated.
It was an absolute honour and privilege of meeting this wonderful family and assisting them in their time of need.
